Referee News

Referees in the SSWHL must wear a USA Hockey patch on their uniform shirt. 

Referees in the SSWHL should all be Level 3 certified. 

As of January 1, 2001, any referee without a 2000-2001 patch sewn onto their jersey may not officiate a game in the SSWHL.

Teams must notify the league president for complaints about a referee within 24 hours of the game.

State News

Bylaws for each program are due to Jane Ford (508-877-1986). If you need an example of bylaws call Steve Palmacci at 781-981-4445.

A waiver must be submitted to Jane Ford for any player wishing to switch teams. This is a requirement for all players wishing to switch teams.

The state play-down tournament will be held March 8-10, 2001 in Assabet.

Treasury News

League fees were increased for this season by $94 per team. This is to cover unforseen referee charges and one extra game per team.

Schedule News

There were changes made to the divisions. The new divisions will be as follows:

 

Providence Lady Reds C moved from the C division to the B division and are therefore renamed Providence Lady Reds B.

Providence Lady Reds program entered a new team into the C division, named Providence Lady Reds C.

Nighthawks BB moved from the A division to the B division.

Rhode Island Panthers BB moved from the B division to the A division.

Teams in the AA division will play each other 2 or 3 times during the season. They will also have cross-over games with all A1 teams and all K teams except Peabody and Chelmsford M1.

A1 and A2 are the same division (A), with the exception that A2 teams will NOT play against AA teams. A1 teams will play A2 teams with no restrictions.

Each team will play 22 games in the season.

Once the Jan – April schedule is released, it will be FINAL, with NO exceptions.

If your team needs or wants a schedule change, your team is responsible for contacting all other teams involved. The league president AND the coordinators for every rink involved in the change must be notified AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE. All teams involved in the change must agree to the change in advance. The league schedulers/officers will NOT contact teams or make changes for you!

August 22, 2000 – Navin Rink

Referee News

 

*   Bill Paulson will be the referee liason to Mass Hockey for girls and women.

*   Referees in the SSWHL must wear a USA Hockey patch on their uniform shirt. 

*   Referees in the SSWHL should all be Level 3 certified.

*   In the case of a forfeit, the refs do not have to stay and referee the resulting scrimmage; however, it has been recommended that they do so anyway.

*   Teams must notify the league president for complaints about a referee within 24 hours of the game.

State News

*   Rosters for national bound teams are due by November 1.  Rosters for non-national bound teams are due by November 15.

*   A coaching clinic was held at Holy Cross on Saturday, August 19.  It was a big success!  Another clinic may be held in the near future.

*   A deposit of $300 per team was due at the August meeting.  If you did not turn in your payment at the meeting, please mail it to Loise Cardinale

*   League fees for each team will be $2650.00 this year.

 

Schedule News

 

*   The league will make use of ice time in Rhode Island this year.  There will be 2 games one week and 1 game the next week, alternating until December.  Only the C and Midget divisions will play in Rhode Island.

*   There will be a new scorekeeper at the Canton rink this year.

*   This list is subject to change if new teams form or existing teams fold.

*   These divisions will exist as listed above for the first 5 weeks of the season.  After those 5 weeks, a meeting will be held to determine movement of teams between divisions.

*   The season will begin on Sunday, September 17 (some teams may have a game on Sunday, September 10).

*   Each team will play 22 games in the season.
