Laura Lyons was nominated and elected as the Second Vice President

v. Instructional League. SSWHL intends to conduct an Instructional League in 2004-2005. Last year the instructional league was tremendous success. An Instructional League Coordinator needs to be identified. Volunteers for Instructional League Coordinator contact Laura Bowser or Jill Depto.
vi. A proposal was initiated to include a playoff format at the end of the season. A playoff was proposed and voted into effect for the 2004-2005 season. The playoff format will be determined during the years as State and Regional tournament dates are confirmed and the amount of ice available / number of games desired is more closely examined.
vii. Team submitted their weekends off and home rink requests.
1. The league will not schedule games at NESC Marlboro on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter weekend and on Super Bowl Sunday.
2. The league will not schedule games at Canton on Super Bowl Sunday and Easter Sunday.
7. Congratulations to Carl Gray on being selected by USA Hockey as the recipient of the 2004 William Thayer Tutt Award. USA Hockey recognized Carl’s over thirty years of service and leadership to hockey in the U.S.

a. Timely payments are important to the League’s ability to pay monthly bills.
4. Instructional League Update
a. The Instructional League is extremely successful.
b. 30 players
c. There is a waiting list which will be used to identify players for next year. Priority will be given to players on this year’s waiting list for next season’s Instructional League participation.
d. It is likely that the Instructional League will produce a D team next season.
e. Volunteer Coaches have done outstanding work and if you are interested in helping out contact Dana Mastroianni.

5. Scheduler Appointment
a. Cynara Wu replaces Jill Depto as the scheduler.
b. Michele Collier is the Assistant who will collect scheduling requests from the teams in the league.
6. Election of the Play-off Committee
a. The following were elected to the SSWHL Play-off Committee:
i. Mary Carlson Nighthawks D
ii. Jenn Devlin Phantoms B
iii. Jodi Mackie Lady Monarchs
b. The Play-off Committee will determine the play-off format, seeding and purchase awards.
c. Play-offs will be conducted in March. The SSWHL ends the first weekend in April 2005.

a. Teams provided their second half scheduling request.

c. Teams stated their intentions regarding Regional/National Intentions
d. During the JUL 2004 SSWHL meeting, the teams in the league voted to use excess ice fort he purpose of inviting non-league teams to Mass to play League teams. Only two teams have played against non-league opponents to date. The cost to the SSWHL team is $150.00. Teams are encouraged to take advantage of the additional games and participate. Point of contact is Laura Lyons.

ii. There are games available on 18 and 19 DEC
VOTE: 15 – 2 The Divisions remain the same as in the first half with the exception of the Rhode Island Panthers B team moving from the C Division to the B Division.
There was considerable discussion regarding competitive balance and margin of victory specifically, in A Division vs B Division games and games within the D Division. Teams were encouraged to demonstrate proper sportsmanship in these games.
CONSENSUS ACTION: B teams will not be scheduled for back to back games vs A
Teams.
This proposal will be added to the Agenda, discussed and voted on for next season in the SSWHL Pre-Season Meeting for the 2005-2006 season.
This proposal needs USA Hockey approval. All changes to USA Hockey rules must be submitted to USA Hockey for approval. No Vote taken and no action pending.
This proposal was discussed and clarified. No change made to the current Rule.
Laura Bowser discussed the number of penalties and suspensions. Teams were encouraged to reduce penalties.
Bill Paulsen (Lead Referee) addressed the meeting. He discussed the importance of providing feedback on referee performance to him in a timely manner. (within a week). This provides him the opportunity to investigate the circumstances, discuss the issues, and address the feedback.
He also clarified that players pursuing the puck are not allowed to make contact with opposing players enroute to the puck.
Michele Snowdon of the Manchester Lady Monarchs offered a game against the Lady Monarchs D team on April 2 (Saturday) at the Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester. The game will be played prior to the Manchester Monarchs IHL game. The details of the game and Michele’s contact information will be readdressed to the league in a separate email.
A Disciplinary Committee meeting was convened following the SSWHL Mid Season Meeting.
